Biography

Iā€™m an early career professional artist based in Dublin working through an expanded practice of painting that incorporates two and three dimensions across a variety of surfaces. Representation moves between the illusionistic possibilities of paint and immersion in its material quality. One image produces associations that leads to another. Wall hung works on traditional surfaces share space with three dimensional prop like pieces.

Conceptually my work draws on concerns of romanticism; human relationship to nature, the power of imagination, transcendence,. Written text embedded in the work  or assigned as titles communicate idiosyncratic thoughts or statements that seek to grasp  the mysteries of creation.

In the context of our contemporary world, Romantic values such as imagination and individuality have a role in visioning our definition of self and environment. Through my expanded painting practice I reflect on nature and artifice, fragmentation of our relationship  with Nature, self-fragmentation and the search for balance as we negotiate our existence in a self-created posthuman world.

I have an MFA in Fine Art Painting from the National School of Art & Design, Dublin (2023).

My work is held in LIT Permanent Collection and in private collection.
